Baited Pherocon AM yellow panels use no pheromone but do have a food attractant incorporated into the sticky surface which attracts both male and female flies when they first emerge from the ground. For orchards, we recommend placing several traps in alternate host sites (abandoned orchards, fence rows with wild apple trees, woodlots) as flies usually emerge in these areas first. They then migrate into orchards at a later date. Hang trap near middle section of tree canopy on the outside edge of tree with yellow surface facing outward. A few panels should be placed in outside row of orchard along with ball traps to complete AM monitoring program. Once the yellow panel is placed in the field, the attractant dissipates in approximately 7 days. Field life may be extended by placing an AM bait enhancer with the trap which will increase field life 1-2 more weeks. Panels are used to directly monitor Rhagoletis spp.: Apple and Blueberry Maggot, Walnut Husk Fly, and Cherry Fruit Fly.
AM No-Bait yellow panels are used to monitor Whiteflies, Thrips, Flying Aphids, Fungus Gnats, Mushroom Flies, Corn Rootworm, and Pear Thrips. |
