Use to locate active colonies of San Jose Scale and concentrate monitoring in these areas. Conspicuous red spots on apples at year end may indicate San Jose Scale damage. Severe outbreaks can lead to overall decline in tree vigor, growth, and productivity. Traps are used to help pinpoint crawler emergence by noting date at which first male adults are captured. Crawlers will emerge approximately 300 – 400 degree days from that date.
